Our Boat

“Razorbill” (named after the Auk most prevalent in Pembrokeshire) is a 6.5 metre (wide 2.6m beam) ‘Ocean Ribs’ Rigid hulled inflatable boat (Rhib or Rib).

Razorbill on Pontoon With Passenger Seating

Please note that Razorbill is fitted with fully removeable / interchangeable rear Jockey Seats and Dive Rack / Kitting up table, dependent on Charter need.

She is powered by a powerful yet economical (ultra low emmission) outboard engine which means she is capable of achieving speeds in excess of 40 knots. However, we will usually endeavour to cruise at around 20 /25 knots sea state and comfort dependent. See the manufacturers website for further details of the craft: www.oceanribs.co.uk

The boat is equipped with Hydraulic trim tabs to achieve effective planing at lower speeds, improving the quality of ride and enabling better balancing of the boat when fully laden with people and equipment.

The boat is category B rated for use offshore “Designed for offshore voyages where conditions up to and including wind force F8 and significant wave heights up to and including 4m may be experienced.” Whilst we would not anticipate ever being out in anything like these conditions, we trust it demonstrates the capability of the vessel.

The vessel is commercially coded to Cat 4 (up to 20 miles from a Safe Haven in favourable weather & daylight) by the Marine and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and carries all necessary safety equipment associated (including a liferaft). As such, you can be assured that you are chartering a very safe boat with a competent skipper (qualified to RYA Advanced Powerboat Handling level with a Commercially endorsed Licence). Our Skippers and crew are also all members of the local Lifeboat Crew – see “who we are” in the toolbar for further details.

When coding the vessel (for 6 passengers), we took the decision to cater for smaller parties, taking the view that space and comfort was a very  important consideration for passengers when on charter. This ensures that you are never overcrowded on board and by catering for smaller groups, that we can provide a service to best meet your specific requirements.

“Razorbill” has been laid out with space and convenience in mind – the single console leaves plenty of open deck space for gear storage as well as plenty of grab handles and standing room (interchangeable / removable dive-bottle rack and jockey style seating can be fitted for comfort  – please discuss your requirements when booking). For divers, there is lots of room for kitting up as well as the bottle rack storage / kitting up table (see also Dive Charter)

We would stress that we do not aim to provide ‘white knuckle’ thrill rides. The main focus for us is the stunning local marine environment both above and below the sea……….Entering Sea Cave
